Thank You Sweden

Here at Ammo we love our music.  Whether we’re riding the subway, walking to work, or even soaking up the sun on the beach, you can be sure that we’re blaring our tunes wherever we go!  But what’s even more annoying than those painful earbud headphones is when a bulky pair cramps our style.  We were beginning to think we would never find a solution to our headphone woes, but then Swedish audio equipment manufacturer JAYS saved the day!  Enter the new model v-JAYS.  Still just as great sounding as all the other JAYSmodels, new model v-JAYS are streamlined, lightweight, and have a matt finish that looks so great we wouldn’t mind sporting them even if they weren’t plugged into anything!  But the best part?  They’re affordable- only $69.99!  When we can rock out in style and not burn a hole in our pockets while doing so, we’re happy!  So mark your calendars, the new model v-JAYS launch on July 6.

Still not sold?  You can check them out for yourself and read some other reviews here.

Men’s Fashion Week Review: Raf Simons

Raf Simons’ collection was consistent with their other collections. There were a lot of abstract art references. Models were on escalators in a building that was said to be the headquarters of the Credit Lyonnais – a bank in Paris. The whole mechanical element could be felt with shapes and geometric cuts applied to patterns on top of patterns. Florals and patent leather come together for something unconventional, but still functional and that is probably the biggest theme from this collection. Models actually looked dapper and pale with slicked back hair and a center part. The Raf Simons perspective was clear as it always is with this designer; not too overwhelming or excessive in its abstract-styling.

UNKO: The Kool Klan

When Bryan Blue and a fellow artist began customizing and hand-painting a line of sneakers, shirts, and hats in the summer of 2008, Unkommon Kolor was born.  Through sheer talent and hard work the brand began to quickly evolve from a small project into an all around creative house. Fast forward three years later to a team of six all working together to produce a full-on screen printed clothing line and artwork. This creative clan, err kreative klan we should say, is made up of owners Bryan Blue and Jeremy Biggers, artists and designers Eric White and Samantha Mattice-Lowery, stylist Morgan Farruya, and business mind Marcus Young.

Among UNKO’s other projects, our minds are boggled by the speed paintings which you can check out here.

We’re also crazy for these painted hat masterpieces…

Men’s Fashion Week Review: Hermes

This season we got to see a more relaxed Hermes with casual cuts and loose-fitting pants. Colors were consistent and uniform – navy, white, and yellows worked together to create a preppy color scheme. If I had to describe the collection in two words, I would call it, “Loose Luxury.” Each look still carried Hermes’ signature lux look, but things were more casual, almost suggesting that luxury is more accessible this time around. While I may not necessarily agree, the collection still showed impressive styling and creativity.

Artnet.com Auction Series: Last day!

Today is the last day of the Artnet.com auction series and we don’t want you to miss out on all of the great pieces waiting to be scooped up.  We’re really intrigued by this Daze (Chris Ellis) Narcisuss piece.  We never knew spray paint could be so mysterious and sexy!

‘Narcisuss’ showcases the legendary graffiti artist DAZE’s expert skills with a spray can. This work on canvas highlights the variety in line quality that can be achieved with spray paint, as seen in the heavy detailing in the face versus the quick strokes with the can used for the hair.

Check out the auction before it’s too late!
