Magnus Gjoen

Magnus Gjoen’s prints examine how to change peoples relationship and preconceived notions of objects. Something which is potentially extremely destructive can be made into beautiful yet fragile objects of art. It’s this misconception of beauty which Magnus Gjoen wants us to see in a different light, being it weapons, animals or the human race itself. The latter which is capable of creating immense beauty but also capable of destroying it all. Taking inspiration from street and pop art and juxtapositioning it with fine art, he creates new and modern takes on old masterpieces or manipulates something powerful and strong into something fragile but beautiful. He often questions the correlation between religion, war, beauty & destruction in his art. Magnus Gjoen was born in London to Norwegian parents and studied design in London and Milan and works as a designer/graphic designer for Vivienne Westwood. (via)

MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA X H&M X NYC

MMM w. H&M drew a star-studded guest list to its art & dance performance celebrating the collaboration.

The faces of Julianne Moore, Sarah Jessica Parker, Mena Suvari, Kanye West, Helena Christensen, Selma Blair, Alan Cumming and Chace Crawfordwere appeared on the scene to see what would be launched in Nov 15th in the 230 worldwide H&M store. This exciting collaboration was brought in with the words of MMM ““We are happy to present the Maison Martin Margiela with H&M collection in New York with this event. Maison Martin Margiela believes in showing its work outside of the traditional context. This mix of installation and performance captures the spirit of the house, and allowed the artists to interpret the collaboration collection in ways they saw fit.” Maison Martin Margiela.

Anne Teresa and her dancers danced and undressed/dressed themselves in the collaborative collection, making each piece literally move. Was this art or promotion? thats for you to answer.

Nevertheless, MMM and H&M seem to be a very strong collaboration we look forward to wearing ourselves.
