First Look: Peggy Tan | Mandarin & General | Fall/Winter 2013
Peggy Tan brings us Mandarin & General Fall/Winter 2013. The line is rooted in the heritage of Mandarin-dress making. Tan has constructed a line featuring wooden geo print. She doesn’t move far from the presentation of her culture through this line.
Her designs focus on the use of contemporary Chinese art and culture. Tan is a Taiwanese-born designer, trained in New York at The New School for Art and Design.
It cleverly sources, reconsiders, and reinvents constructional tradition and details in Chinese garments that Mandarin & General ultimately translates into fresh and meaningful designs for today.

First Look: Daniella Kallmeyer | Fall 2013
Daniella Kallmeyer, Fall 2013 is an all black affair. The androgynous line intrigues us, we wonder how someone could develop a line that is classic in its design, and effortless in its appeal, while giving us grunge.
Then we remember this masterpiece was not microwaved. There’s an overwhelming theme of the edgy women, who knows her stakes in the world, that’s what we are seeing in Kallmeyer’s line.
Kallmeyer is inspired by her culture, theater, and artistic back ground, she takes us on a cross-cultural journey with her. Kallmeyer is South African born multi-disciplinary designer founding her own brand.
Kallmeyer’s formal training began at Syracuse University concentrating in Fashion and Costume Design before then transferring to the London College of Fashion where she received a BA honors in Fashion Design and Technology. Her graduate collection was selected by a panel of industry professionals to be part of an exclusive press show at the Royal Academy in London. Garments from her collection were selected by designer Henry Holland and the buyers and creative directors of ASOS.com to be sold in an exclusive limited edition live sale, and press from the Royal Academy show included a mention by VOGUE.com and WGSN as “One to Watch.”
